Applications

Metering where water and energy flow

Six typical applications and the version we usually recommend for each. Every project is different, and we are happy to help you choose.

01 · Residential and commercial buildings

Bill consumption per flat and tenancy

One H2O per unit for cold water and one for hot water, plus a DELTA III for heating or cooling. All meters are connected to an M-Bus, which is read by a data logger in the plant room. In existing buildings without a bus cable, LoRa is a good option.

Meters
H2O DN15/DN20, DELTA III DN15/DN20
Interface
M-Bus or LoRa
Analysis
EMU M-Center, billing software or Joulio-Web

02 · Boiler rooms and plant rooms

Measure energy per heat generator and heating circuit

DELTA III meters on the boiler, heat pump, substation and heating circuits show where the energy goes. With RS-485 and Modbus RTU, the values go straight to the building automation system, which can use them for control and optimisation.

Meters
DELTA III DN25 to DN150
Interface
RS-485 Modbus RTU, optionally M-Bus as well (ABMM)
Analysis
Building automation, energy management

03 · District cooling and office towers

Record cooling energy in large pipe sizes

In hot climates, cooling often accounts for the largest share of a building’s energy use. The DELTA III records cooling energy in a separate register and is available with flanges up to DN1000. In the Middle East it is used in residential towers, offices, schools and hospitals, supported by our team in Dubai.

Meters
Flanged DELTA III, DN50 to DN1000
Interface
M-Bus, RS-485 or LoRa
Service
Metering as a service with billing

04 · Service connection and water distribution

Measure water at the inlet and in individual zones

The H2O is rated IP68 and can be installed in a pit or meter box. It measures reverse flow and reports leaks and air in the pipe. The flanged versions cover DN50 to DN600.

Meters
Flanged H2O DN50 to DN600
Interface
LoRa for pits without cabling, otherwise M-Bus or RS-485
Analysis
Control system, consumption analysis

05 · Industry and ISO 50001

Make the energy flows of each plant visible

Energy management to ISO 50001 requires measured values for each consumer. The H2O and DELTA III supply the water, heating and cooling data, which can be analysed together with electricity meter data, for example in Joulio-Web.

Meters
H2O and DELTA III depending on the pipe
Interface
M-Bus or Modbus RTU
Analysis
EMU M-Center and Joulio-Web

06 · Data centres, hospitals, airports

Complete data where downtime is expensive

In buildings with a high cooling load, every hour of data counts. The DELTA III’s internal memory holds daily and monthly values for 24 months. Two communication paths in one meter, such as M-Bus and RS-485, keep billing and operation separate.

Meters
DELTA III, H2O
Interface
M-Bus + RS-485 (ABMM)
Analysis
Building automation and energy management in parallel

Use case · Middle East

EMU M-Center: from the meter to the platform

How we read more than 300,000 meters in the Gulf region: M-Bus and Modbus, MQTT with the Helvatron MQTT broker as a service, built-in SIM and BMS integration.
